In fact every area possible. importantly we do so bearing in mind our writers wishes and requirements regarding suitable use and what is and what is not acceptable.
The business of Music Publishing is concerned with developing, protecting and valuing music. Such diverse business demands a variety of skills. These range from the ability to spot writing talent and original music that is likely to appeal to an audience and ensure that all uses of music are properly licensed and paid for. Music publishers play a vital role in the development of new music, by taking care of the business side, they allow composers and songwriters to concentrate on their creative work. Publishers Find new and talented songwriters, producers and composers then encourage and support them as they develop their skills, whether through helping with their living expenses, providing them with the facilities they need to produce music or offering advice and guidance in writing for particular markets.
The Process of a song:
The writer creates one musical work, which is recorded by an artist and is sold as many sound recordings.... The writer’s interests are looked after by a publisher, and the artist’s by a record company. Publishers and record companies are represented by associations. In the UK, it is AIM and the BPI who represent record companies, and the MPA who represent music publishers. Collecting societies/ agencies manage the flow of royalties from user to creator. In the UK, it is PRS for Music who collect royalties for use of musical works, and PPL who do so for sound recordings.
What we do...
Secure commissions for new works and help to coordinate work flow Register the works of songwriters and composers with all appropriate collecting societies Promote composers and songwriters to performers, broadcasters, record companies and others who use music on a commercial basis Monitor and track the use of the music we own and ensure that proper payment is made for all licensed uses Ensure our artists receive royalty payments in respect of the usage of their music and take appropriate action against anyone using music without the necessary licence.
